Ljubljana, Slovenia – October 21, 2025

On Monday, October 20, representatives of the EUSA Office and the Organising Committee of the European Universities Winter Sports Championship 2025 met at the EUSA Headquarters in Ljubljana for a coordination meeting focused on the upcoming event, scheduled to take place in Val di Zoldo, Italy, from December 15 to 19, 2025.

EUSA was represented in the meeting by Matjaz Pecovnik (Secretary General / CEO), Sara Rozman (Director of Education & Operations / COO), Liam Smith (Director of Sports Events), Miha Zvan (Sports Manager), Aleksandra Andreeva (Sports Administrator), and Salvatore Sisca (Head of Media & Communications) — alongside the Organising Committee from CUS Venezia, represented by Massimo Zanotto (President), Ivano Sambo (Vice-President), Franco Vianello Moro (Treasurer), Stefano Pranovi (Board Member), Gianfranco Gramola (Board Member), Matteo Cerutti (Logistic Manager), and Stefania Petta (Event Secretariat).

The working session opened with a welcome speech by Mr Pecovnik, followed by a detailed review of the operational areas of the event. Topics discussed included the overall organisational structure, coordination with institutional partners, and updates on registrations management, accommodation, catering, transportation, and media and communication strategy.

Particular attention was given to sports venues management planning, with contingency measures discussed in case of diverse snow conditions, as well as the allocation of sports officials and staff.

The meeting highlighted the strong response from the European university sports community.
As of the Preliminary Entry phase, registrations numbers of countries, universities and athletes already figure a significant increase compared to the previous edition, confirming the event’s growing appeal and the successful collaboration between EUSA and CUS Venezia.

The next milestone will be the Quantitative Entry deadline, set for October 31, 2025, when participating universities will confirm their final numbers of athletes and officials. Detailed instructions will be sent to the Universities registered to go on in the process.

Both EUSA and CUS Venezia expressed satisfaction with the progress made and reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring a high-quality and well-coordinated event in Val di Zoldo this December.
